Solid, solid, solid!

I'm not a plumber but rather a detail-oriented home-remodeler. My wife and I had originally specified a two-bowl sink in our kitchen, I think primarily because we've always had them in various places we've lived, and the two-bowl version of this sink was put in. Once we moved in, however, we began to regret the two-bowl choice almost immediately. It might be perfect for some people, but with various George Foreman grill parts and all our larger pots and pans, it always seemed like we were fighting to get things under the faucet and into the sink. Strangely, the righthand bowl became some kind of secondary holding place for dirty dishes, I'm not sure why or how.I wanted to match the quality and handsome angled-corner design of the original two-bowl model exactly, and the original sink was this type of high-end Elkay model, only with two bowls. This precise version, with five holes at the back, would allow us to install an instant hot water spigot as well, another item we felt we should have specified originally as we found ourselves making more tea, hot chocolate and oatmeal for our growing kids and their friends.Even though this sink was shipped in a single-layer box without much padding to speak of, it arrived undented and with all edges were completely straight and true. It has that spray-on texture coating on the underside, so between the thickness of the steel itself and that coating, it's a very quiet sink in terms of dinging and clanging when you're working in it. A very solid feel.Between the sturdiness it demonstrated in shipping and the pleasure of using it once installed, this has really been a great purchase for us.
