Watch Me Install This Nice Clear Speaker
By Glenn R. Howes
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RWW6D5TYZ1Y6Q This is a how to guide for installing this speaker in a ceiling. In my case, I installed it in a bathroom ceiling with audio streaming from an Airport Express. Even though this is just a mono speaker, I found it quite good for this purpose with excellent clarity. In fact, after comparing this, relatively expensive, speaker to the cheaper stereo speaker in my other bathroom, I have to say I now prefer high quality mono to low separation stereo from a cheaper speaker (in my case a Jamo). Sometimes you do get what you pay for.The brackets made it quite easy to hold this speaker into my dry wall ceiling. I would recommend using a cordless screwdriver, just avoid over tightening the brackets. They are, after all, only plastic.Sound is good, with of course little power on the low end, but excellent for what I use it for: music and podcasts, as well as its typical use as a rear surround speaker in a 7.1 home theater sound system.I did make some use of the directional tweeter, although it is somewhat hard to find, just push on the plastic ring around the center cone and you can point the speaker over a narrow range of angles. I choose to point it at where I thought the listener would be.

Use as a in wall center speaker review ...
By An Engineer
I was excited to try using the product as an in-wall center speaker for my surround sound system in my living room. I have been using it for a few months and thus far very happy with the speaker.I was looking for a couple qualities.a) ability to handle 75 Watts- no problems hereb) paintable- I don't think they advertise paintable but I was able to paint it to match my wallc) in wall with ability to attach to sheet rock- it uses a clip system that will grab on to sheet rockd) wide sound projection to fill a room- I was happy with the speakers ability to fill a wide room ( the room is about 30 ft wide and 20 feet deep )e) good voice sound capabilities but without sacrificing low frequency response- since it uses a 6 1/2" cone this has not been a problem. I was happy with the cross over circuit built into the speaker.I admit that I used the speaker outside of the intended use. It seem to rise to the occasion nicely. Why 4 stars? ... one reason .... I noticed that the pictures on the listing are incorrect. There are two pictures that show a small base and treble adjustments that are not actually on this model. I noticed that the description does not mention it so I believe its a simple issue of posting the wrong images of the product by the vendor.I hope this short review helped a little. I always suggest reading a few reviews as I am not a professional reviewer rather I was solicited to review this product from Amazon. My intent it to provide consistency to keep everyone else in check. Thank you for your attention and happy gadget hunting.Cheers

CRS6 One - Good Features And Sound Quality
By Mark
The SpeakerCraft CRS6 One 6 1/2" In-ceiling Speaker is a great basic unit for in-ceiling installation. It can be used for mono, stereo or even area surround-sound applications. I tested this unit in a 2.1 setup, which was enough to allow me to make some initial observations.INSTALLATIONThe installation was straightforward for an in-ceiling speaker. The unit feels solidly built, despite mostly plastic fittings. The extra backing and sturdy connectors were a pleasant upgrade from the bare-bones build of the similarly priced units I compared these to. Setup was comparable to other in-ceiling units I have used. Those who are uncomfortable cutting holes in their ceilings should definitely seek out professional help. But with the included parts, most people who are handy should not be too daunted by the task. There are templates that show you how big to cut the hole to fit the speakers. You just have to have a stud finder and know how to ensure you are cutting into the wall only. The included plastic brackets provide a stable installation, though I definitely would have preferred if they replaced those plastic parts with metal ones. The flush mounting fringe is very well done, as is the filter. Both are attractive and functional. This speaker really does blend in.THE FEATURESThe unit is advertised as *liquid cooled* which should, in theory, allow you to play these for prolonged periods with no fear of burn-out or heat discharge. I tested them and did notice some heat, but I can't comment on whether it was more or less than comparable speakers. The directional tweeter is also a very nice feature that I was happy to get in this price range. There is a ring that is well concealed in the center that you can turn to direct the sound. I made a minor adjustment for my placement but don't think I will need to change this further. It's great to have the option though. For those who are looking for the ability to aim and direct the speaker, the AIM Speaker product line, also from SpeakerCraft, provides improved range for full directional sound.THE SOUNDFirst and foremost, this One line-up is very treble-heavy. These are perfect for an area where you just want light music. Be prepared to pair this unit with a variety of different speakers for use in a surround sound or home-theater installation. Sound quality is clear. For the features, application and value, these provide good sound quality. For those who want to install fewer speakers with more range, there are 3 way models that provide built-in bass as well.CONCLUSIONWhile the thought of in-ceiling installation can be intimidating, the results with this speaker have been more than worth the effort. After long term use, I am pleased with this model. If you have an area where you need your speakers to blend in, give this a try.Enjoy!
