I'm of two minds here...
By LuckyChucky
On the one hand it's really cool how this bike light generates power from the rotation of your wheels. On the other hand, the mechanics of the installation hardware leave something to be desired. Specifically, you're using little tiny screws into soft plastic to adjust to millimeter tolerances, which are then subjected to significant stresses while riding. The magnets need to sit just a few MM from each other yet they can't touch, depite the strong attraction to one another which generates current. The ultra-narrow gap which keeps them apart, which keeps them from banging into each other ~tap~tap~tap~tap~ as you ride, is determined only by a mere turn or two of a teensy tiny little screw shallowly seated in soft molded plastic, barely this side of stripping out. Only crude adjustment is possible, for a setting which requires great precision, and consistent stability of that adjustment as well, over time.On one hand it's a very cool idea. On the other hand, the execution seems vulnerable. I haven't ridden much with them yet but my gut feeling is that they're going to go kaputt sooner or later. They did the best they could, I suppose, with the idea. In terms of redesigning this device, machining the components out of stainless steel would probably make it a lot more sturdy, but the thing is already far too pricey as it is.You're mounting to the bolts in your hub, and to the spokes of your wheels - which are thin, and which flex and distort as you ride. If the thing cost 10 or 15 bucks then whatever, but mine was $64 plus shipping. Actually, the more I think of it, it's really not such a great product, though it kinda breaks my heart to say that. I wouldn't recommend it. It makes me sad to say this because the concept is so very appealing and I do so very much want it to work right.Other bike lights have batteries that die while you're out riding, or worse, are powered by friction dynamos. This seemed like the ideal solution - if only it weren't so flawed.I'll go for three stars but I'm borderlining at two, just between you and me.

Very dependable and easy to install
By M. O. Ellis
I used these lights for over 2 years when I lived in Denmark. Very dependable lights and a brilliant idea. They work as safety lights so drivers can see you from in front and behind. They are not bright enough to see by in total darkness, but provide good safety visibilty. What I love about them is I never had to think about my lights. They were just there, always on.And don't worry about adjusting the lights/magnets with "the little screws in soft plastic", as one reviewer wrote: I adjusted them once and that was that. No problem. The only reason I'm not giving them five stars is that one of the wheel mounted magnets fell off after HEAVY everyday usage about 2 years after I got it. (I rode my bike everyday for at least 1.5 hours. The lights always worked. That is saying a lot since it rains very often in winter in Denmark. I rode my bike everyday, rain or shine, as most Danes do.) Well, since the light comes with 2 magnets for each wheel, I still had light, it just blinked slower since I only had one magnet on the front wheel. I think Reelight have redesigned the magnets so this can't happen anymore. If I ever have this problem again, it's easily fixed by buying a small magnet and gluing it to the mounting bracket which was still there after the magnet came loose.Anyway, I would gladly recommend this product to anyone. In Denmark, you see literally thousands of bikers using this product everyday. Now that I'm back in the USA, I'm going to put it on my bike here.

Love it
By Mandible
I've had mine for a year now and LOVE it. I took it on a week-long ride across Utah and Nevada - through desert, hail and rain storms. It worked fantastic!I only wish I had waited to buy until this year. Reelight has come up with the same light that flahes for up to 2 minutes after you stop! Mine are the original, so it only works as I'm biking. But anybody can install. It's easy. Simple. It lasts! I highly recommend it!
