High quality, great price for a very handsome shoe. Sizing advice.

I looked around for the perfect penny loafer and I saw the Johnston & Murphy Ski-Moc at an outlet store and fell in love with it. I didn't have time to try it on and I thought I would get a better price online. I did extensive research and decided to purchase it on Amazon.One of the issues from my research was proper sizing. Many suggested to get a smaller size because there is some heel slippage and that a shoe should be a little snug. After much agonizing I bought my usual size and hoped for the best. Delivery was fast and the shoes looked great. After trying them on my worst fears were realized; they felt a little big. My heels did slip almost to the point of coming out. I took the shoe and compared them to some of my other shoes and they were the same size. It was then I realized that they are called "loafers" and took a closer look at the shoe. My heels were slipping was because the sole is very stiff and made of high quality leather that needed to be broken in. After a day of walking around the house in the shoes barefoot, the soles loosened up and my heel would slip just a little, but not enough to worry about running out of my shoe. I've worn them now almost everyday for a week and they have become more comfortable with each wear. There was a little discomfort the first couple of days but now they've become my favorite go to semi-dress/casual shoe.If you want a shoe that fits snug around your foot then stick to the lace up type and dress slip-ons. But when you want to go loafing around the town in a shoe with almost slipper like comfort then you can't go wrong with this classic shoe.

Nice Quality, But TIGHT-FITTING

Lest anyone think I have a problem with this brand, this J&M shoe has great materials and finish quality. The problem with this slip-on is that it is very TIGHT-FITTING. My size 10D feet could not be shoe-horned into the size 10Ds that were shipped to me. I was very surprised, because I have two other pairs of J&Ms in the same size that fit very nicely. (Buyers beware: Not choosing the right size has financial consequences. You must cover return shipping costs when the size you select is too small.)

Johnston & Murphy always have high quality shoes well above $100. These shoes fit great, made of high quality materials, and at 1/3 the retail cost, it was a great bargain. I'm glad I bought 2.
