The real test of an outdoor loudspeaker is whether it will hold up well over time. So far it has survived the summer with no hint of wear, at least on the exterior. It sits in the sun every day and gets hit by the sprinklers. I have some expertise in loudspeaker design and I can tell you that outdoors and great performance are very difficult to achieve. Heat and UV light really take a toll on the materials. By inspection of the product I can tell you that Boston Acoustics applied attention to detail on several key points: the interior loudspeaker is well protected, yet the sound is very good. It does not look like it is possible to get water into this thing though I would not stick a hose right on the face. The wire feedthroughs have plenty of goop to seal in addition to the mechanical aspect. No need to tempt fate. I hope to come back in a couple years and give you an update on the durability. So far so good.
