By Tony Stone
This is a very good small form factor U320 HBA but suffers a lack of driver support for 32 bit versions of Windows XP and any version of Windows 7. The HBA can be made to function in Windows 7 using the Vista 32 and 64 bit drivers, but a quirk in the Vista drivers cause a long delay (5-8 minutes) during booting, even if you are not booting from the drives connected to the HBA. I corresponded with the LSI tech department and they have declared this tem to be end of life and do not anticipate providing any Windows 7 drivers at this time. LSI really dissappointed me with this decison especially since I use several of their products including a SCSI RAID controller that does function in Windows 7 using Vista/Server 2008 drivers. I'm sure someone will eventually hacjk the driver and figure out how to make it work. Consequently, I returned this item to Amazon. ATTO makes a Windows 7 supported HBA, it's expensive but may be the only recourse for those of us supporting U320 SCSI based systems.

By Jeremy Akers
This card worked perfectly in a Dell XPS 510 running Ubuntu 10.10. I just needed to get some data off an old SCSI hard drive (Fukitsu 146.8 GB 10,000 RPM Wide U320) and this card did the trick. I didn't need to install any drivers or do any configuration, I just inserted the card, rebooted and copied the data off. Very simple procedure.
