5Tricky to install, but performs perfectly!
By ScOObydoo
As soon as you open the large box the Ceratronic faucet comes in, you'll realize that you are not dealing with a normal faucet. Installation will take at least two hours, even for an experienced plumbing expert. In the box is the faucet with pre-installed cabling and hose, an AC adapter, a connection box and a variety of parts. Before you even start installing, you'll run into a couple of issues:1) Deckplates are NOT included, so if you are replacing a faucet with multiple holes, you'll need to order this part. Expect to pay around $16 for the American Standard part. Quite frustrating that this was not included, given the price.2) The hoses are 3/8" MALE -- you'll have a tough time finding the right faucet hose with a male-female hookup, as all the ones at your hardware store will be female-female.3) You need AC power for this facuet. In my case, I drilled a plastic pipe through the wall into an outlet behind a table. Since most homes will lack an outlet under the sink, you'll need to plan your own method of getting AC power. The adapter is quite small, and feeds low voltage DC to the control box. Sadly, the DC plug is tied into a rubber grommet, so expect to spend ten minutes undoing it, unplugging it from the control box and rewiring is you plan to feed it through any holes.Installation once you have the parts is pretty simple -- remove the old faucet, feed the faucet hose and cables down under your sink, and hook everything up. Frustratingly, the faucet hooks up to the connection box with ten wires -- but most of them are duplicated for some reason. The power board has two identical wires, and the solonoid valve also has two idential wires. Ideally, they would have made this all connect with a single connection, because if you are installing under a sink, the short wires and faucet hose mean you'll be messing around with plugs for quite a while.BUT -- once installed, this really is an amazing faucet. The sensor is very well designed, and unlike some other faucets, you won't have to wiggle your hand to make water start flowing. Temperature control using the Ceratronic sensors is brilliant. All in all, a pricey, but well designed product with a couple of minor issues. If the price scares you, then this is clearly not a product designed for your lifestyle.

4Expensive faucet, optional parts should be included
By Andrea Polk
The reason I give it 4 versus 5 stars: "The Problem"The American Standard AC version - Ceratronic Faucet with Touch-Free Temp Control in polished chrome is a high-end 7.5" high faucet, that projects out about 6" from the mount, that ships WITHOUT the optional 4" or 8" chrome deck plate. Why? The additional cost of the plate is minimal compared to the cost of this AC controlled, hands-free faucet. This is a major oversight by American Standard in my opinion, as very few sinks come with just one hole and in my household there was an immediate need for this plate when installation began.Unable to locate it at a local venue without ordering it and waiting 2 weeks, I went to the internet where I located a 4" (the size I needed) for approximately $30 shipped. The 8" plate was about ten more, and both were available from a plumbing vendor online who ships overnight. I was unable to locate this optional deck plate in either size on Amazon. Something they should consider getting into stock immediately if they are selling this product! There is also an optional remote control for this faucet, but that probably won't be necessary or desired for everyone.Installation: 1 hour by a "Professional"Done by the electrician in the family who first had to remove the old faucet (and since he was there he also removed a chipped sink to replace at the same time...), said it was 'easy' by his standards. I wouldn't have wanted to tackle the project on my own and would not have agreed to test-drive it had I not known I had him to install it. I would highly recommend this installation be done by plumbing or electrical professionals, or seasoned Do-It-Yourselfers who are confident in their ability to wire in an electrical junction box (approximately 6"x8"), as that's the real tough part of this installation. Yes, you could have a cord coming out from under the sink and going into an AC outlet, but I really can't see anyone saying 'OK' to that one if they are paying this much for a faucet. While not really a problem, and not something I could honestly evaluate for the purposes of this review as I've never purchased a faucet like this before, is the high cost of this item. Retailing for just under a thousand dollars, with sale prices about 40 percent cheaper than that price, it's still a very expensive faucet! Is it worth it? For me, 'no'. For someone who doesn't have full use of their hands, perhaps. The Look and Feel:Once installed this faucet looks great! Sleek, elegant design reminds me of a swan's neck. Perfect for a bathroom sink, and in my opinion it's tall enough that it would work for a single, deep kitchen or home bar set-up sink as well, although it doesn't move side to side.Definitely the right item for germ-phobic folks too (my daughter who battles OCD loves it...), as its hands-free operation controls both the on/off of the faucet as well as the temperature. The hardware is noticeably solid and vandal resistant, making this faucet an excellent choice for public bathrooms. NOTE per American Standard: This faucet meets the Americans with Disabilities Act Guidelines and ANSI A117.1 requirements for accessible and usable building facilities. The on/off sensor is accurate and easy to use. The hot/cold sensors on either side of the faucet work well too. Overall this is a quality product which works well and as advertised. The downfall is in the packaging, making the relatively cheap deck plates 'optional' instead of included is absurd. Other than that oversight and probable desire of the owner of the faucet to get it hardwired into the existing electrical system versus using a cord to power it, it's great.Product Description (from American Standard):- Selectronic Collection, Electronic Sensor Operated Faucet- Range can be Adjusted Manually or with Optional Remote Control- Vandal Resistant Solid Brass Construction with Fully Enclosed, Water Resistant Electrical Control- Water Pressure Range from 20-125 PSI- Operates on Multi-AC Power (10' Long Cord Included)- Integral In Line Strainer Protects Solenoid- Single Inlet to Spout 15" Long S.S. 4Heavy Duty - Built To Last.
By Zulma
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2818V0N0CHB55 This faucet is beautiful and simple to use. The sensors quickly respond to movement. I am not going to sit here and tell you installation was a breeze.First, we had to install a new "waterproof" 120V outlet since we did not have one underneath or near the sink. I was not about to run an extension cord making it an "eye sore" for all to see.Second, I don't understand why this faucet did not come with a deck plate. BEWARE - you are not going to find it at a Home Depot or Lowe's, they do not carry them! This is the reason this item lost a star - American Standard should of included the deck plate as part of the packaging. The instructions even show the installation with a deck plate mounted! Even though the large retail chain hardware stores do not carry the deck plates, they do carry "plug" type covers to cover the holes that are not being used. They come in white and polished or brushed chromed. We ended up getting a white plug and a soap pump dispenser to place on each side of the faucet.Third, check out the attached pictures on the main page - did you see all the cables and wires that need to be attached to something. We read the instructions carefully and followed everything step-by-step thoroughly. It is not difficult to connect, just tedious.Once everything was screwed and plugged in the faucet, the American Standard Touch-Free Faucet looks and works amazingly. It reminds me of one of the faucets from a fancy 4 star hotel I see on TV that only the rich and famous stay at :-The faucet is made of high polished chrome, heavy duty and definitely built to last. Conserve on water and waste no more with automatic shut off and improve your hygiene by not touching the actual faucet or leaving behind dirt and grime. We have only had it installed for a short period of time and everyone who has used it has complimented us on how beautiful and easy it is to use. Who would think a faucet would make a great conversation piece with guests. If I could change one thing, it would be some kind of control to set how long the water stays on. We read the instructions thoroughly and could not find if something like this was even possible. The water will only run as long as your hands are in front of the sensor. It would be nice if have some kind of timer to set it to 10 to 15 seconds longer. Other than that - it is PERFECT!PROUDLY MADE IN THE USA.UPDATE OCTOBER 31, 2011I ended up "Asking an Expert" on American Standard's website about the timing of the water shutting off. Here is my original question and the respond I received:Your question about: Ceratronic Faucet with Touch-Free Temp Control has been answered. On 10/31/2011 you asked the following question at American Standard"Is it possible to change how long the flow of the water stays on? I have noticed that the water shuts off immediately once you remove your hands from the sensor's eye."Anonymous said:"In metering mode the take can be set in intervals. to set the faucet up to function in metering mode, the remote must be used to program it."Buy Now605XRCN - Optional Remote ControlEstimated List Price: $ two hundred forty-threeChange functions or adjust setup parametersCan be used to operate all Selectronic® faucet, flush valves and fixtures9V alkaline battery powered (order separately)(Replaces 605XRCL))There are some Amazon third party sellers that do offer them, but they are currently out of stock. However, there are some external websites that do have them in stock. American Standard 605XRCN New Selectronic Remote Control-Version 2008. I find it interesting that the model was released in 2008.****For now I will just hold one hand up towards the sensor to keep the water running. :-)
