I ordered the 5' white right hand drain from a local supplier for my bathroom remodel. I bought this tub because it had a deeper water depth (14" to overflow) than our previous tub, and it didn't have some hideous design on the side. I also have no use for an indoor whirlpool tub, as we have an outdoor hot tub, and as far as I know, it's still not considered wise to use bath oils in a whirlpool. In having read reviews of other American Standard products, I knew that their White was *not* stark white, which is good, because I really didn't want stark white. However, in trying to see it at my local hardware store was difficult because of the overhead flourescents and bad displays. I knew I wanted a Toto sink and toilet, so I had to make sure everything matched. I tried getting a hold of American Standard, but that was an exercise in futility. I think their phones were down. So I called Toto. Turns out they have chips of their colors, and they knew exactly how theirs matched with American Standard. Toto's Colonial White is identical to American Standard's White. (Side note: Toto customer service was so helpful and friendly, I wanted to buy their products. Sadly they didn't have a tub that would work for me. And I admit to be incredibly picky about customer service.)American Standard products must sell themselves, because I bought this with only seeing a picture online, reading the PDF for the water depth, and looking at Toto's color chips. American Standard's description only boasts their company and the materials they use. They don't mention the actual features of this tub. So let me help out. This tub has been installed only a few short weeks so far, but I am in love. Seriously. I put it through a proper test, I shaved my legs. I had waited awhile because I'd recently had abdominal surgery and found it very difficult to shave in a 30"x30" shower. The hair did not stick to the sides of the tub. The hair did stick only a little to the no slip bottom, but that just needed a gentle rinse. This tub is really easy to keep clean! Also the top "arm rests" tilt towards the tub by just a degree or two. I hadn't noticed this right away. I had noticed it was comfortable to bend over the tub while bathing my near 2-year old daughter. But during a shower the other day, I needed to put something on the side to throw away later, and thought that I'd gotten water down the side and onto the floor. After, I saw the whole area was dry. That night, I gave my daughter a bath, and she decided she must pour water on the arm rest. I watched the water go right back into the tub. The water pressure has to be a bit stronger to make it over the side. This means you don't have to be overly protective of your floors with shield guards, just don't deliberately aim water towards the floor.I don't know if all drains are like this, but the drain I got to go with this tub was odd. We thought the tub spout would open and close the drain. It turns out that the overflow knob turns to operate the drain. Nice feature!

I purchased this tub from Amazon after failing to find it in 5 major stores in Los Angeles area. I was looking for a 32" tub which would be used primarily as a shower. I tried a 30" Villager at my friends' house and felt like I was in a cage where I could barely move as they also had a glass doors installed. I was still concerned about the space issue and decided not to install glass doors but just use a shower curtain. This Americast looks beautiful, it is spacious enough even to be used with glass doors, and no slip service on the bottom feels very comfortable and not overly rough like in case of some cheap bathtubs. It would be a great tub if it wasn't defective. This hadn't been discovered until a contractor finished tiling a wall behind the tub. It turned out that the edge of the tub facing the wall was not even but dipped as much as 5/16 of an inch in the center of the tub. This defect led to a big gap between the tile and the center of the tub that had to be filled several times with a grout.

I bought this tub after looking at tons of expensive, impractical soaking tubs. It was easy to install and, having now used it for several months, is great. It's deep and, most of all, keeps the water in the tub! That is just too awesome. My only complaint about this tub is the etched bottom. It has some kind of "safety texture" on the bottom that tends to get a bit dirty. Does it add traction? I do not know.
