Product Description
Leupold 1x14mm Tactical Prismatic Sight, Matte Finish, Illuminated Circle 1x14mm Tactical Prismatic Sight, Matte Finish, Ill, The Leupold Prismatic optic gives you the fast target acquisition and accuracy of a non-magnifying red dot sight. But unlike them, the Prismatic features a glass-etched reticle that’s visible with or without its removable Illumination Module, or even batteries. In other words, you have all the advantages of a red dot sight plus more, without the battery dependency. For turkey hunting, shotgun slug hunting, or even muzzleloader hunting – anytime the action is fast and close – the Prismatic is an excellent choice. The removable Illumination Module screws into the Leupold 1x14mm Prismatic to illuminate the reticle in red. Remove the Illumination Module, and the glass-etched reticle is still visible, so you’re never battery dependent. The Leupold Circle Dot reticle is glass-etched, making it visible at all times – even without batteries – unlike conventiontional red dot sights. It’s also extremely sharp and clear, unlike the fuzzy dot of red dot sights. With a more generous field of view than competitive red dot sights, you’re on target faster. The true 1x optical system allows you to shoot with both eyes open for the superior depth perception and wide field of view that’s crucial for fast target acquisition and reactive shooting. By RickB
I have always been a Leupold fan so was excited to try this sight out on my M 4 carbine. The sight is very good, quick to use, and the ability to use or not use the illumination for the reticle is very desirable. But. the one issue that i am not it love with is eye position relative to the sight. You need to have a very good and repeatable stock weld and be able to position the sight so that stock weld works or you will experience shadowing on top below or to the side based on how your eye is lined up. I found that the further away from my eye I mounted the scope ( as far forward as possible) made the stock weld less critical. The sheer size of the reticle make acquiring a close up target very fast and easy and the cross hair and dot a more distant target more precise but a good red dot will be faster up close and an ACOG better at range, but I still like this unit.RB

By Alex
Although it was a little expensive I have found this to be a great optic for my rifles. I had an issue with small black spots appearing internally and Leupold fixed the scope and returned it in a timely manner. I would recommend this particular product as well as Leupold in general, I had never had a problem with their products until recently and they handled the repair quickly and professionally. One thing I must share is that you check the rails you intend on mounting this scope to. I put it on a .22 AR-15 upper and the mounting rail wasn't quite in spec (on the rifle), so when I mounted the scope it was slightly off center and the cross hairs weren't completely vertical. If you have a rail with this problem you can order different mount adapters that correct for out of spec rails though. In my case I used the American Defense AD-20 which works very well swapping between rifles.
