JL Audio 12W3V3-2 Subwoofer Review

I was ordering some 6x9's and 6 1/2" speakers for my car, and since I live in Canada, and things are half price in the USA, I figured that I should order a sub to make a modest, well rounded stereo system. This sub surpassed my expectations. I'm impressed.I've owned two JL 12W4-D2's about 10 years ago, and this sub pounds almost as much as both of them did put together. I made a sealed box exactly to spec (from JL's website) using 3/4" MDF, screws every 3 inches, and sillicone to seal it. I am very pleased with the bass.It has good accuracy and dynamic range. I set the LPF at around 100Hz. It has great punch for songs that are recorded that way. It shines when playing songs with low rumbles and chest vibrating frequencies. Two of these would be sick, but then I wouldn't have much room for the golf clubs, and would need another amp.The sub looks classy. No high-school style bright red glossy colours with flames. JL's upholding their rep.I like the spring loaded speaker terminals. I'm running it off of a Rockford Fosgate Prime r500-1 amp. I have the gain set at 9 out of 11 and the punch control set at about 3/4 of the way up. Perfect combination of amp and sub. It's a bonus to have that control right at my fingertips.I just listened to someone who had 2 MTX 10" Jackhammer subs, with cap's and the works, and there is no comparison. Sorry dude. :) Your window will be fine lol.One of these subs is more than enough for my goal of having a cheap 'modest' system under $1000, but I have a feeling that I'll be craving more soon, and I will b-line straight for more, or bigger JL subs when the time comes!

I bought this in February of 2012. First off, you will not find a better brand of subwoofer period!I had it over a year now and it has delivered 100% insane sound quality. I have never heard of a clearer more distinctive sound in my life. It bangs so hard that my friends swear there are two 12's in my trunk and I have only one 12w3v3-2 ohm powered by a JX500-1. Never once has this sub distorted. If looking for a subwoofer it's a clear case of one stop shop, "A MUST BUY"

I bought this over 6 months ago and i had to write a review about it. I have it hooked up with a kenwood amp and enclosed in a 12in ported box i bought here on amazon. Hands down this sub will not disappoint you, i have it adjusted in very low settings and it still knocks. If i turn it up abit the bass level is very strong and is already hurting my ears. If you want a HARD KNOCKING SUUBWOOFER this is your buy, you will be happy with your purchase.
