Yamaha MG124C 12 Input Stereo Mixer Product Description:
- 12-input, 4-bus design
- 4 channels of single-knob compression
- 3-band EQ on inputs
- Illuminated channel on/off switches
Product Description
The MG124C is a compact mixer with 12 input channels: six mono and four stereo line inputs. Mono inputs have switchable 48V phantom power. Stereo inputs can accept either RCA or ¼" connectors. The first 4 mono input channels offer single-knob compression, a Yamaha exclusive. This feature, designed for easy use, allows inputs with very wide dynamics to be better heard. For example, with the right amount of compression, a vocal that must be whispered in quiet parts and screamed out in louder parts will be better balanced in the mix. Two aux sends are available. One fixed post fader and one switchable pre or post fader. Dual 12-segment LED meters allow visual monitoring of the main stereo outputs.

I was surprised at how happy I am with this mixer. It's replacing a Behringer and what a difference. The sliders are very smooth, it's got a better set of connectors and the RCA inputs are great with computer DJs.Two surprising things.1) The Manual is VERY GOOD. I'm really shocked about this, in the age of shrinking manuals, getting good documentation is really an eye opener. It's long and it actually explains things. I never knew exactly how for example a balanced input reduces noise, only that it did. The manual explained the process, it didn't have to, but I really enjoyed reading about the mixer and relevant sound engineering.2) it comes with a heck of a power supply, holy cow that is a heavy brick, luckly though it has a cord to the brick so it's not a wall wart, however it is still a big brick. It has a proprietary connector from the brick to the mixer, which is a little minus since I cant get a right angle connector. It's a long mixer, it takes up the full 10U rack space available in my combo box and the cord sticks out a bit at the end. It's overkill for my needs, but then that just makes it more fun.

i got this for not much over $100 because it was slightly used. i'm thinking it was a floor model because it was still in all the original packaging and had the stickers over everything on the mixer. i couldn't be happier and with amazon prime i got it in 2 days right before my bands next practice. everyone loves it.
