4I give it a 4.9 (Almost 5)
By Jason of New Jersey
I love this receiver... let me say that first. It does it all! 4 HDMI 1.3 inputs, Dolby True HD, DTS-MA, crystal clear sound. I would expect nothing less from a Pioneer Elite product. I am blown away by the amazing sounds the receiver can produce when watching a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD encoded with True HD and DTS-MA. Uncompressed audio is great and there is no way to do it justice until your hear it. That said, there are a few areas of concern that I have experienced.1. "NOT SUPPORT" message blinks occasionally across the screen of the receiver. This is most likely due to your component or your display having an issue with HDCP. But, after talking to the Pioneer Elite team on the phone and trying to troubleshoot it, I was left with the intermittent problem. I believe the root is my Sony VPL-VW60 projector not accepting a 1080/24p signal. I think I may have eliminated the problem by outputting only 1080/60p from my Pioneer Elite BDP-95FD (Another GREAT piece of equipment).***FOLLOW UP - The "NOT SUPPORT" was blinking because I had the HDMI Control turned off on everything. However, the HDMI control on the Receiver itself does not actually turn off (even when "off" is selected and the machine is restarted). To remedy this, I turned on the HDMI control on every piece of equipment even though I am using a universal remote and really don't need it to be turned on to select inputs. The reason I turned it off on the receiver was based on the advice from Pioneer via the telephone. They were 100% incorrect in their diagnosing of the problem. Hopefully this will be solved with future firmware updates. Using HDMI control on all components and the receiver does work almost flawlessly. I say "almost" since HDMI control is not 100% compatible between devices from different manufacturers. You can research this point many places on the web.***2. The onscreen menu for adjusting Receiver features and setup is HORRIBLE!! Not only is the color scheme b/w, but the text looks like something out of a 1978 PONG gaming system box. C'mon Pioneer. i know the setup menu is not super-important in the big scheme of things. But...Other than those two minor complaints, I can't imagine owning a better receiver. This receiver comes at a high price, but I believe it is well worth it if you want the best. I ordered from ButterflyPhoto via Amazon, and the unit arrived perfectly. I am very happy with this purchase!

5A home run!
By John B. King IV
Let me start by saying that I have waited many a year before I finally upgraded my home A/V receiver. I have looked and listened to just about every new one that has come out in the past 7 years. It not that there has not been some good receivers on the market before but either it was lacking in a area that I felt meaningful to me or I just did not have the $$ available at that point in time. Another problem is that I am some what of an audiophile snob. In the back of my mind I had the idea that I just needed to wait till I could afford to get the high end separates that I thought I needed.Let me just say that the only reason that I chose the Elite VSX-94TXH was that it meets all of my minimal requirements for home theater. To start it simply sounds wonderful. There is detail and separation of sounds and instruments voices. I can get lost in the musical canvas it unfolds. The sound stage is big and vivid. It has 140 watts per 7 channels. That is enough to drive my power hungry 4 OHM speakers. And the third reason is that it looks wonderful. It has everything I need to be an outstanding heart of for my home theater system. With its looks, brawn and musical finesse Pioneer was a real winner in the Elite 94 TXH. I am100% satisfied with it, I love it. The wait is over.

5VERSATILE AND STELLAR PERFORMER
By Anthony Pizzi
Pioneer VSX-94TXH Home Audio ReceiverI bought the Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH about a month ago, primarily to take advantage of the newer audio codecs available on HD DVD and Blu-ray discs. (See my review of the Samsung BD-UP5000 combination HD DVD/Blu-ray player elsewhere on Amazon.)You can find a number of detailed reviews in prominent sources, both in hard-copy magazines (Sound & Vision and Home Theater come to mind) and a number of Web sites. Read them if you're interested in technical details about performance.I only want to add that this unit absolutely lives up to its billing. It is high-powered, built like a tank, and oozes quality. I have the usual complement of audio/video components attached to it, and it does a fine job of handling a wide array of analog and digital signals, including the new "lossless" audio codecs from Dolby and DTS.I was especially intrigued by the Home Media Gallery feature which allows this unit to access audio files on external devices connected to it via an Ethernet computer network. And if that network is also connected to the Internet, you can use your remote to search for and listen to Internet radio stations with as much ease as finding and listening to AM and FM.Of course, the sound quality of many Internet radio stations is not always what you might expect from a quality CD. However, it is eye-opening to be able to conveniently listen to this kind of programing through a quality sound system in the living room, rather than through the limited-capacity amp and speakers typically attached to a PC.At its list price of $1,600, I would consider this unit a good value. At its "street price" of about $1,200, it's a steal.Highly recommended.

5good addition to Thomas wooden railway
By mwvegb
I bought this product for my nephew who is 4. He absolutely loved it and it was a great addition to his set. It makes noise and has a few lights which makes it more interesting for him. It is also more durable than some of the other "sights and sounds" pieces. I hadn't had much experience with the Thomas the Train wooden set, but this piece was wonderful.

4Good,... but not really "wood"
By Heather R. Coxon
Well, overall my child likes this toy. However, the one thing I don't like, (and I think is false advertising or at least disingenuous), is that it is not solid wood. It is made out of sawdust particle board. Which, if it gets wet (it hasn't yet, but if a child puts it in their mouth..) it begins to come apart. The point of Thomas wooden toys is that they're supposed to be made out of solid wood.Even the older toys sometimes had particle board, but they were mostly wood. Then, plastic started being used more and more, but at least there was some solid wood. This deluxe fire station has almost no solid wood at all. Almost all plastic and sawdust board.Disappointing for the adult. But, my child loves it so,....

4Not what I expected!
By Barbara J. Certo
Guess I missed the deminsions when I viewed the product. It was a lot smaller than I expected. The little doors get popped off all the time too. I finally just left them off. It's cute and the boys love to play with it, but I think it's a little high priced just because it has a few flashing lights and whistles. I would recommend something a little less gadgety for the younger children.

4Overall good buy for the price
By T. M. Currence
I just assembled the entertainment center 2 nights ago and so far so good. Here are, in my opinion, the pros and cons of this unit:Pros:1. Instructions were easy enough to follow: The unit came with a 25 page instruction manual (mostly pictures with a few words). All of the hardware, screws, wood pieces, etc were given different letter labels in the manual to make following the directions easier.2. All you need to put it together is a hammer (only at the end to nail the back cover on), a standard philips screwdriver and a flathead screwdriver.3. The TV opening is large enough to hold my 42" widescreen TV...with 6" of width to spare. It's extremely hard to find an enclosed entertainment center, for larger TVs, at such a reasonable price.4. The cabinets and drawer are great for hiding DVDs, VHS, CDs, videogames, etc.5. The top of the unit can serve as a faux mantel piece for picture frames, etc.6.It's very sturdy once put together and looks like it's worth much more than the $159 I paid for it.7. There are cutouts at the back of the unit to manage cord flow, and for easy hookup access into the TV, etc.8. The affordable price!Cons:1. Unit is very heavy. Assembly can be done by one person (you assemble while laying the unit on it's back) but once you're ready to lift it and stand it upright you definitely need at least two people.2. B/c I assembled mostly by myself, it took close to 3 hours to put everything together b/c there are close to 200 screws and 60 nails to put in, and multiple pieces of wood to put together.3. I'm not a big fan of the striations in the wood. They are more prominent in person than what you see advertised. That's really it for cons, so not bad at all. The additional information I would give is:1. Unit cannot hold a tv that weighs more than 240lbs.2. Be very careful to follow directions closely while assembling, as one small mistake could make you have to start all over again.3. Be sure to line up the pieces as close to perfect as possible, b/c one offset can mess up pieces that follow.4. Finally, enjoy the entertainment center! After the hard work, it was worth it b/c it is truly a great addition to our living room.

4Great piece of furniture
By J. R. Blessing
I bought this entertainment center through a local store and am very pleased with it so far (I only just bought it and put it together today). I didn't realize how heavy it would be (although every site I looked at had the weight clearly listed -- sometimes I just don't pay attention). Once I managed to scoot it out of my car and into my living room, it took me about 4 hours to put together (by myself, I felt like Wonder Woman). I had no trouble flipping the entire thing over by myself to attach the backing. The instructions were very clear, none of the materials were missing (it actually came with some extra), and everything fit together perfectly. The only thing that I got hung up on was the backing. Stupid me put the thing on upside down (there are perforated areas in the backing to make it easier to cut sections out for the back of a TV or for cords, so it does matter which way it goes on) and I didn't realize it until I had already nailed down one end. Had to rip the backing up around the nails to get it off so I could flip it around and put it on the right way, but it's not noticeable at all. Just make sure you have it on the right way before the first nail goes in!!Now that it's all together, it's very beautiful. I would definitely recommend getting this. The anguish that goes into putting it together is worth it.
