5Board Gaming Excellence
By Brian Rohan
Let me start by saying that I have played many board games and roleplaying games in my day, and if you are looking for a hardcore roleplaying experience you should look somewhere else. However, if you're looking for a boardgame to play with your friends/family this would be it.I have played many of the Games-Workshop games and I must say that their subsidiary, Black Industries, does as well as their parent company. The attention to detail is good, and it shows in the rules. The artwork on the board is good as well as the cards. I would have liked to have seen miniatures with the game instead of cardboard playing pieces, but they serve their purpose. The playing board itself is quite thick and looks like it can take a beating. The surface is semi-resistant to spills (the first time we opened it there was a soda incident, but it was cleaned fast enough and there was no stain.) The game box itself is very well made and the art is very well done. After playing this game the first time there were a few glitches and it took several hours. Now that I am comfortable with the rules, the games take less time an I find myself playing it at least twice a week with my wife and her sisters. This is an excellent board game and even though its a bit pricey, I would say that its worth it.

4The best is back.
By Peter Ingemi
Are you a gamer who wants to play a fantasy game but doesn't want to commit to months of gameplay and have dozens of books to look up how to fight. Then Talisman is for you.You take the role of one of 16 very different characters (all of whom can play at once) and begin your quest for the Crown of Comman a magical device that will allow you to rule over all.But beware not only do you have to compete with your rivals but a biwidering array of monstors and creatures are out to help and hurt you, and these visitors will treat you differently depending on who you are.Even if you get to the 2nd realm you will need craft, strength or luck to get through the portal, and if you get to that inner realm you still need a talisman to get to the crown.Once the crown is in your hands it is a race to remove your rivals as they will all be trying to get to you.The rules and gameplay are practically identical to the 1st edition but the graphics are first rate, the cards are easier to read and it is just as much fun as when we had cheaper components. It also is a good choice when you have too many people for anything else (such as last night) and the game play is simple enough that from age of 10 to 100 you can play with ease. The only thing it lacks are the city and dungon expansions that were available for the old ones, with luck they will soon follow.Buy it.

4Beautiful game, fun to play
By Dan Cooley
I first demoed this game with my son at Gen Con 2007. We liked it a lot and put it on our list of things to buy. Playing it at home was great. The artwork is beautiful and the cards/playing pieces/etc are adequate. If you like fantasy games you'll like this one. The rules are complex enough to make it interesting but not so complex that you'll spend hours pre-reading before playing. The manual is exceptional - all color and well written. This is not a game for hardcore D&D players, it is more for Monopoly players wanting to experience a fantasy game.
