A great everyday watch!

I bought this watch in the fall of 2008 when I decided I wanted to start wearing a watch (Instead of using my cell phone for the time as is so popular for most young people my age today). I can only speak from having owned super cheap $15-$20 watches from Wal-Mart previously so this should be taken in note, but I'm quite impressed with this watch! It looks great, the blue face looks really nice and classy. The watch looks nice without being too dressy to wear with everyday clothes and it's nice enough to be worn semi-formally as well. The date function is immensely handy for daily tasks or when people ask you what the day's date is (And you of course go blank!) - in this same manner, the day function is also a nice addition as well.This is the first automatic watch I have owned - automatic watches being watches that are not battery powered, it is powered by the motion of the small metal "thing" in the watch that rotates in a 360* manner around a point in the middle of the watch. You can see all this through the clear backing on the watch. This means if you don't like to wear the watch all the time...it will "run dead" and you'll have to shake it around a few times to get it moving again. You either must wear it every day or have a winder or you'll have this problem frequently. I only like to wear a watch when I'm going out, but I have made myself wear it around the house as well (Albeit I don't move around as much so I don't wind it up probably as much as it would like). This probably ties in to some amount of time loss every week. I have my PC set directly to the internet standard time (atomic) and try to set the watch spot on. The time will be accurate on the watch for several days, however it will invariably be about 2-4 minutes slow and have to be set again.The face of the watch is made of a durable glass that does not scratch easily - I do have a few small scratches at the top and a light one across the left side, but as I said I wear the watch constantly and it takes quite a bit to cause. The band has also scuffed and scratched somewhat - a few small areas appear to be revealing shiny metal that should be a more matte finish - but I can't really mark off for the band being it's replacable and all and the scratches are quite miniscule (I merely point them out to be thorough - you hardly notice them in daily use).All in all, this is a great watch - at $70 you're getting a genuine Japanese made watch and not a similarly priced luxury branded watch that is a knock off of questionable origin. I have yet to have this watch serviced as is recommended at 2 years, but I've yet to see a need for it. The watch is a tad on the weighty side in my opinion, but for my first quality watch I don't know how well this compares to others.

From an appearance standpoint, this is a nice watch. The band is both dressy and stylish, but practical. The shade of blue on the dial is very nice and the gold tone hands and hour markings complement the blue perfectly.From a working perspective, it is O.K. However, if you don't wear it 10+ hours every day, it will stop. Also, it appears to be running fast. I can't seem to set it to the exact time. With the previous Seiko I had, when you pulled out the crown to set the time, the second hand would stop until you pushed it back in, this one continues to run.

Nice Watch

This was the first watch I have ever bought and I am glad I chose this one. It looks exactly like the picture and it also arrived 3 days earlier than expected. This is a great watch for who ever is looking for a casual wear and dress watch.
